"I am a fighter and not a quitter" - Liz Truss, and she quits next day

Resignation of Ms. Liz Truss doesn't come as a surprise. She was never the right candidate for the prime minister's position. It was a fantasy built around false promises - a castle built in the air.  The economic policies that she promised, and in no time took a U-turn, says it all about her incapability to think through such big decisions that could cripple the whole nation.   Wednesday saw a war of words between Truss and  the Labour Party leader, Keir Starmer in the House of Commons. The combat went on for some time and Truss appeared a big loser. At the end Starmer said, "The only mandate she ever had was from the members opposite,  it was a mandate built on fantasy economics and it ended in disaster."  He further added, "The country's got nothing to show for it except the destruction of the economy and the implosion of the Tory Party." When finally, Starmer said the Conservatives' economic credibility is "gone" and asked "why is ...

Queen Elizabeth II under medical supervision

Queen Elizabeth II, has been put under medical supervision due to the growing health concerns. She is in her Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where she had gone for her summer break in July. All her children and grandchildren either have arrived or are on the way to be with her. "Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," says the statement put out by Buckingham Palace, which is quite unusual. The statement further adds, "The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral." The unexpected statements about Queen's health, who is 96 years old now, coming from Buckingham palace is definitely a matter of concern as these things are always kept private.   Recently, she appointed Ms Liz Truss as the new prime minister of the UK and was seen smiling while photographed. She always appoints new PM in Buckingham Palace in London, but this ti...

Britain welcomes new PM - Liz Truss

In a close contest, between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, the UK's Conservative party elected Ms Truss as the next prime minister and leader of the party. She won 57% share of vote while Mr Sunak received 43%, in the intra-party contest. Ms Truss would become the third woman prime minister in the history of Britain. She is set to replace the 55th prime minister Boris Johnson, who has been holding the post since 2019.   Meanwhile, Priti Patel, Home Secretary of UK, has resigned from the post. In her resignation letter to Boris Johnson, she said, "I congratulate Liz Truss on being elected our new leader, and will give her my support as our new prime minister." She also added, "From the backbenches, I will champion many of the policies I have stood up for both inside and outside government." In her tweet, Ms Truss says, "I am honoured to be elected Leader of the Conservative Party. Thank you for putting your trust in me to lead and deliver for our great country....
