Prince Charles has now become the King Charles III after the demise of his mother the Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8. The King was formerly the Prince of Wales. His mother was proclaimed Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 25, when her father, King George VI, died aged 56 on 6 February 1952. The Royal Family website , however, gives detailed information about succession. It states, "the succession to the throne is regulated not only through descent, but also by Parliamentary statute. The order of succession is the sequence of members of the Royal Family in the order in which they stand in line to the throne." As per the website, the next in line is The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, who is the elder son of King Charles. Since birth, he is second in line of succession after his father to the throne.
