Unification Church, that came into limelight after the murder of the former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, has accepted that it took a huge donation from the suspect's mother. The suspect had cited the reason for assassinating the former PM as latter's connection with the church. The suspect blamed the church for his bankruptcy due to his mother donating all their savings along with life insurance and real estate. She had donated around US$ 700,000. Although, the church explained that it had later returned half of the amount at the request of suspect's uncle. The church is now planning to reform its donation policy to ensure that no one is forced to make any donation. It is believed that over half of the lawmakers of ruling Liberal Democratic party in Japan had ties with Unification Church, which might have influenced the decision making at national level.
