Former Pakistani PM and famous cricketer Imran Khan shot, 9 injured, one dead

Imran Khan, former prime minster and famous cricketer of Pakistan, was attacked during his rally against the current government today in Wazirabad. He was hit by bullets on both his feet as his caravan approached the reception camp. There was a indiscriminate firing that led to injuring nine people, including Khan, of which one has been declared dead.

The attackers were nabbed by the Khan's political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers. Police have arrested two suspects so far.

Khan was shifted to the hospital in Lahore and has been confirmed out of danger. Among injured were his close aides and a manager. The firing happened near his vehicle at the march which was moving towards Islamabad.

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the incident and has called for a high level meeting with the Punjab police for information on the attack. While it is believed that it was an assassination attempt to kill Imran Khan as he has been opposing the current government ever since it came into power. He has dubbed the current regime as imported government funded by foreign powers.

The local police stated that the attack was motivated by religious reasons as the rally was accompanied by loud music. However, Khan has spoken in the past about the possibility of an assassination attack on him.

Khan had started this rally demanding for dates for a fair election. His relation with Pakistani military establishments has deteriorated since he was ousted as the PM.

The attack seems to be turning the already polluted political atmosphere into a bigger disaster in the country. The supporters of Khan are angry and there are reports of spontaneous protests all over, which could lead to a major crisis in Pakistan, although the security across the nation has been beefed up. A lot also depends on what Khan, who is undergoing a surgery, has to say to his supporters.

Canada – safe haven for criminals & terrorists

When a country deliberately spoils its relations with another, it also turns a blind eye to wrongdoers taking advantage of the situation. Canada, under the leadership of PM Justin Trudeau, has been burning its bridges by constantly targeting India, when the entire world sees the latter as a peace-loving nation with great business opportunities. PM Trudeau has constantly made baseless remarks against India on different issues including wrong allegations stating Indian government’s involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a pro-Khalistani. With increasing crime rate, Canada is slowly becoming a breeding ground for terrorist groups, gangs and local criminals. India released a long list of individuals, suspected to have links with gangs operating out of Canada, and also offered a dossier. However, Canada ignored all of these without any action as the country was busy maligning India’s global reputation. Canada has openly supported Khalistan movement by showing its support to
