ISRO launched these rockets as part of NewSpace India Ltd's two launch service contracts with London-based OneWeb to launch broadband communication satellites.
Somanath S, Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman,ISRO said, “Today's event is very historic to the country and the Indian Space Programme. This is the first ever commercial launch of LVM3 with a heaviest payload to LEO."
The maiden commercial mission of LVM3 will give a big boost to ISRO's future Gaganyaan and Chandrayaan programs. It is a key milestone for India's space agency.
