A Taliban pilot tried to fly US Black Hawk helicopter on Saturday only to crash and die. The accident, which took place in Afghanistan's capital Kabul, has killed three crew members.
The Ministry of Defence spokesperson Enaytullah Khowrazmi confirmed the news saying, "An American Black Hawk helicopter, which was flown ... for training, crashed due to a technical problem inside the campus of the National Defence University." He also added that five more people were injured.
In 2021, Taliban took over Afghanistan, when US army moved out of the country in a very chaotic manner. American troops left behind worth billions (in US$) of military equipment, including aircraft, ammunitions, army vehicles, drones, surveillance and night vision devices, which sadly fell into the hands of the hardline Islamist group.
It is believed that the US soldiers deliberately damaged and dismantled somes of the aircrafts, army vehicles, before Taliban could take control of them.
